In 1938 The Henry De Roulet Corporation purchased 1,300 acres,  the one mile area west of La Brea Avenue was named Sunset Hills. The original marketing circular boasted it was close to all metropolitan activities, it was dedicated to single family one story homes, insuring a pleasing arrangement for each and every homeowner in the tract, Sunset Hills is now part of Baldwin Vista.

We began as 3 separate associations. In 1985, the 3 Associations merged and BNHA was formed for a higher profile, community unity and strength. In 1988, we became a State Chartered Non Profit Corporation.

We have always had the support of the 10th District Councilman's office to assist with police activities, reduce neighborhood intrusion, act as liaison with corporate businesses, and help with traffic issues, where possible.

We partnered with the Councilman's office to negotiate with Metro, first to maintain the Oleander bushes on Exposition Blvd, then to make certain that the train was quiet, tracks were not elevated throughout the neighborhood to reduce noise and that landscaping was/is attractive and is well maintained. We

negotiated for several years, with the councilman's office and CVS to maintain the grounds and to operate during specific hours to keep the neighborhood safe.

We supported and worked,  diligently to have a new building erected at Baldwin Hills Recreation, we have continued our support over the years.

Susan Dorsey Miller High School was brand new when the Development was built. We continue to donate resources to Dorsey and Baldwin Hills Elementary School. Baldwin Hills Elementary has seen the majority of our children attend. Baldwin has always been stellar and currently rated as a Blue Ribbon School
